Nathan is in love with his best friend Devon, he just hasn't told him yet. Together they've built a raft, on which they plan to sail to a nearby island. A perfect opportunity for Nathan to confess his love.

Day 1
Nathan, a teenage boy, is standing under a tree, with a big backpack at his feet. In his hand he has a condom he's studying with interst. Suddenly, his friend Devon comes out of the bushes.

Been waiting long.
Nathan quickly hides the condom in his pocket.

No, I just got here.
Devon
Let's go.
NATHAN
Ok.
Nathan puts on his backpack and the two of them get going.

Did you remember to bring all the food?

Wait!!! There is one thing we forgot...

Girls! We don't have any girls along.

Devon

The boys are standing on a cliff overlooking the raft, and see a girl standing on deck.

Devon waves at the girl, which waves back at the boys.

Uh...that's Janet. She's coming along for the trip.
Nathan

DEVON
I was trying to tell you.
Nathan
When?!? Half way across to the island? You could at least have asked!
Devon

Nathan
You weren't supposed to tell anyone! It was OUR secret!
Devon

Devon climbs down, leaving Nathan behind in tears on the cliff. He then clmibs aboard the raft and gives Janet a peck on the forehead.

We Nathan sitting on the cliff overlooking the raft.
Devon
He'll come.
Janet and Devon get the raft ready, and Devon pushes off. At that moment Nathan comes running and jumps onboard.

WAIT!
He almost falls in, but Devon grabs his arm and saves him. They share a quick smile, the argument seemingly forgotten.
They throw their stuff on deck, and start to get the ready.
Devon
I guess we're all ready to sail then.
Nathan
One thing is still missing.
Devon
What's that?
Nathan
The figurehead!
Nathan pulls out an old teddy bear from his backpack.
Devon
A teddy bear?
Nathan
Devon, meet Robert. Robert, Devon.
Devon
Figureheads are supposed to be sexy topless mermaids. Not teddy bears!

Nathan drops a piece of wood in the water near the bow of the raft, and Devon times how long it takes to pass along the side of the boat.
Devon
Four seconds!
Nathan
How fast is that?
Devon
I don't know, how do you calculate it?
Janet is holding the steering oar andf looks happy. Devon climbs the mast.
Nathan
Do you see anything?
Devon
No, nothing at all. no ship, boat or land for miles. Only ocean.
Devon
Climb up and see.
Nathan climbs up.
Nathan
Wow!
Devon
Nathan, I'm glad you decided to come along anyway.
NATHAN
I wasn't going to let you drown alone.
Janet
(shouting up to the boys)
Can you take over the steering oar? It's getting kind of rough.
Devon
I'll be right down!
Devon
(to Nathan)
Thanks.
Janet and Nathan are looking at the map.
Janet
If this wind keeps up, we should be at the island in one or two days.
The raft is picking up speed and the waves are gradually getting bigger. Devon is at the steering oar, and we see a close up of Nathan holding the stop watch and shouting.

2 seconds!
Janet
(at the bow)
...that would be...8 knots. Isn't that a bit fast for this old thing?
NathaN Devon
What do you mean old thing?!? It's brand new!
A big wave splashes over the bow of the raft hitting Janet square in the face.
JANET
DEVON!
Devon
It's not me, it's the ocean.
Janet
(upset)
I'm going inside!
The raft is gradually getting dwarfed by the steadily growing waves.
Devon
Do you think she's okay?
NATHAN
It was only a little water.
DEVOn
I'm going to go check on her.
NATHAN
I'm sure she's fine.
Devon
Janet, are you okay?
Janet

Janet throws a shoe that hits Devon in the face.
NATHAN

2 - Morning Calm
The three of them are lying in a heap on the floor of the raft, sleeping. Janet is holding onto Devon's hair, and Nathan has his arm around Devon. Nathan wakes up, and looks nervously around, but then can't resist the temptation and kisses Devon on the neck. Devon mumbles something, and rolls over, scaring Nathan who moves away. Janet is observing this in secret.
Nathan goes outside, stretching in the morning sun. The weather is calm. He splashes some seawater in his face, and then notices that the wind is picking up, so he goes back to the steering oar and sets a course.
Inside the hut Devon and Janet have awoken.
Devon
Good morning.
Janet
Morning.
Devon slowly stretches over and puts his arm around Janet. She obviously does not like it, and pushes his arm away.
Janet
Mmm....
Not deterred by the rejection Devon tries again, but this time around Janet buries her head in her sleeping bag. Devon holds on to the sleeping bag, and is clearly a frustrated. Eventually Janet gets fed up with all this and pushes the sleeping bag on top of Devon, pushing him away at the same time.
Janet
That's it, I've got to go pee.
2 - Janet Almost Drowns
Janet comes outside, pulling her shirt in place.
janet
Good morning. I'm going to go pee, don't look okay.
Janet walks to the bow of the raft, while Nathan looks away whistling. Suddenly, he hears a scream followed by a splash.
Janet
Aaaaa....
Nathan runs to the bow of the raft, but sees no sign of Janet.
NATHAN
(shouting)
JANET!
Janet
GASP!
Nathan hears Janet surfacing behind the raft, so he quickly runs back, grabbing a piece of rope as he goes.
NATHAN
Grab a hold of the rope!
He throws the rope to Janet, who just manages to grab a hold of it. She's pulled under as she does, but clambers onto it for dear life. Nathan gradually pulls her in and helps her out of the water. Janet hugs Nathan, holding on to him tightly.

Thank you. You just saved my life.
NATHAN
It was nothing, really.
Devon emerges from the hut, oblivious of all the action taking place on deck.
Devon
What's going on here?
2 - Spin the bottle
The three of them are relaxing on the foredeck.
NATHAN
I think drowning would be a nice way to go.
JANET
No, it's not! I almost drowned and it's not nice!
Devon
Yeah, but you only almost drowned.
Janet looks at him dismayed.
Nathan
At first it's all panic and horrible, but once your lungs fill with water it's nice.
Devon
What's nice about having water in your lungs?!?
NATHAN
It's supposed to be lika a drug or a dream. You're just floating there in pure bliss.
Devon
More like sinking! Hehe...
Devon
I still thikn my way is the best.
NATHAN
Having a ton of fireworks strapped to your body and getting shot into the air, is NOT a nice way to go!

NATHAN

Devon drops the bottle of wine he's been drinking on, onto the deck.
Devon

Devon hands the bottle to Nathan. Nathan takes the bottle, leans forward and spins it. They all look at it in anticipation. The bottle stops pointing at Janet.

You forgot to say what the one the bottle points to should do.
Devon
It's too late now! Janet, it's your turn.
NATHAN

Janet
Okay, the one the bottle points to should...pick his nose and EAT IT!
NATHAN

Devon
It could en up pointing at you, and then you'd have to do it yourself.
JANET
So!
They all watch the bottle spin, and come to a halt pointing at Devon. Devon smiles, and digs his finger deep in his nose, sucking it off afterward.

Nathan looks nervously at Janet, who just smiles back at him. He then leans cautiously forward and gives Devon a quick peck on the lips.

The wind has dies down, and Devon and Nathan are swimming underneath the raft looking at some fish. Or rather Devon is looking at the fish, while Nathan is mostly looking at Devon. They surface around the bow of the raft, where Janet is relaxing in the sun.

NATHAN

Devon pulls his pants up, and grabs a towel to dry off. Nathan pushes himself away from the raft.

Nathan, dives down again, this time actually looking at the fish. Janet looks up at Devon as he dries off.

We zoom out and see the whole raft gradually nearing the island.

DEVON

Devon comes out of the hut with his head bent down, and walks over to where Nathan is sitting, slumping down next to him.
DEVON
Here.
Devon hands Nathan back the condom, but Nathan doesn't take it.
NATHAN
You keep it, I won't be needing it.
DEVON
Me neither, it seems.
Devon throws the condom overboard, and smiles at Nathan. We see the raft slowly drifting along in the sunset.
NATHAN
I wonder if we'll ever reach that island.
